Rosia Montana and the former blue Danube

Jeudi 10 novembre 2011, par Orez (K.) // act

I haven’t lost my time in Rosia Montana - even if if was so short ! I discovered the rotten ambiance of the village, the omnipresence of the mining company, the greed of the priest, the roman gallery and, more of all, the RMGC plans. I did show it to Ani and now i send you the pictures :

current situation ; Rosia Montana up and right ; at the bottom, Abrud ; under the Ceausescu’s mine, the village of Corna almost disappeared today.

simulation after 7 years : Corna totally disappeared

simulation after 14 years ; the dam retains about 145 millions of tons of waste ore added with cyanided water, 125m OVER the city of Abrud that is directly threatened in case of a break in the dam.

Of course, the RMGC (Catalin Osu) will swear that the dam would never, ever break

BUT

- this already happened in Romania (Baia Mare)
- only God could predict what could happen to our planet Earth today. Look at France currently : in the south rivers are overflowing, cities are flooded, a few deaths and tens of thousands of homes without electricity… There have even been a tornado, which never happens in France.

So no one could imagine whatever could happen to the inhabitants of Abrud…

simulation after 17years : mine closure.

The mountains became fields - condemning the tourist traditional resource of the area (as yours), the village of Rosia Montana is preserved like a showcase for the RMGC, it is very probable that the antic vestiges will be destroyed by mining or explosions ; and they want us to believe that it is possible to revegetate a cyanided land… Of course they will tell that they will detoxicate the slimes before do dump it - but i don’t believe them : in two questions the environmental responsible contradicted himself. As he insured me that cyanide would be destroyed and the water recycled to save it as much as possible, i answered angelic : "so why don’t you recycle cyanide to ? as it is very expensive… it’s usual in Africa" and he answered : "of course we are going to recycle cyanide…" Unfortunately, the guy (cautiously) had refuse to be filmed…

But i’ve got a former african experience and i don’t trust these guys a single second.

So in the worst of the case - which is unfortunately the most probable, as Gabriel resources has none experience in mining ; the idea of this crazy project comes from a convicted drug dealer in Austria native from Romania… even the World Bank refused to caution the project in 2002 (!!!) - in the worst of the case the dam will break, the city of Abrud overflowed, the local river contaminated, and contamination would directly reach the Danube and Europe…
